Zack Snyder Shares 'Justice League' Footage
With only 2 days left until DC’s FanDome event, Zack Snyder dropped new clips of the now infamous Snyder Cut of “Justice League” on his Twitter page. The caption promises a full teaser trailer reveal on Saturday, 8/22.
See the clip below:
At barely 23 seconds long including title cards, the footage is brief but it appears to be some never-before-seen shots from the version of the film that was not theatrically released. Here’s a breakdown:
The clip opens with a shirtless Clark Kent (Henry Cavill) standing in front of the broken Superman statue at the memorial for the victims of the attack on Metropolis; a subplot carried over from Snyder’s “Man Of Steel” and “Batman Vs Superman: Dawn Of Justice.” Graffiti at the site is partially obscured but seems to read, “If you want a monument, look around you,” implying Clark’s struggle to reconcile with his actions from the previous films.
The next quick shots show Victor Stone aka Cyborg (Ray Fisher) before his accident and still a star football player at his high school. The general understanding is that the majority of Cyborg’s storyline was cut from the theatrical version of the film and even confirmed by Zack Snyder to be the “heart” of his version. Given how outspoken Ray Fisher’s been regarding the on-set atmosphere with Joss Whedon, many fans hope to see Victor Stone (and Ray Fisher) get his redemption.
Lastly, there are two more quick glimpses at what looks like the final showdown in the film. A flaming car heads towards a police officer which is shot from the first trailer released in 2017. Then the final shot is a low angle of the feet of four of the heroes slamming down. Lightning from The Flash’s speed force flickers around them.
This is one of the most hyped panels for the DC FanDome event (if not the main reason it exists) and after years of fan outcry and production troubles, it’s release will hopefully be a relief for the creators and consumers alike.
Warner Brothers officially announced The Snyder Cut of “Justice League” will premiere exclusively on HBOMax in 2021.
