Blumhouse Continues Their Fresh Takes on Universal Classic Monsters, as ‘The Wolfman’ Prowls Into Your Home!

LIMITED EDITION STEELBOOK,  4K UHD, BLU-RAY™ & DVD AVAILABLE march 18th 2025 from blumhouse and universal pictures home entertainment.

From the director of The Invisible Man comes a modern take on the classic monster story, WOLF MAN. Seeking a fresh start, Blake moves his wife Charlotte and daughter Ginger to his childhood home in rural Oregon. Upon arrival, they encounter a brutal animal attack, forcing the family to barricade themselves inside the house as an unseen creature prowls the perimeter. As the night wears on, Blake’s injuries worsen, and his bizarre behavior turns monstrous. To protect her daughter, Charlotte must decide whether to confront the danger outside or the growing horror within.

WOLF MAN is directed by horror-acclaimed filmmaker Leigh Whannell, and stars Christopher Abbott (Poor Things, It Comes At Night), Julia Garner (“Ozark”, “Inventing Anna”), Sam Jaeger (“The Handmaid’s Tale”), Matilda Firth (“Hullraisers”), Ben Prendergast (“The Sojourn Audio Drama”) and Benedict Hardie (The Invisible Man).

Blumhouse (The Black Phone, Halloween franchise) and Universal Pictures Home Entertainment brings you this at-home release, which contains over 30 minutes of behind-the-scenes content, including a peek at the terrifying Wolf Man transformation, breakdowns of the gnarly action & scares scenes throughout the film, and much more!

The 4K transfer of the disk is absolutely gorgeous. Universal has almost always treated their 4K UltraHD home releases with the respect the original films deserve, and this release is no different. Many scenes in Whannel’s modern horror classic contain deep wooded shadows, and as you would expect, lit only by moonlight. Often the black level of a home release can leave something to be desired, but the lighting and exposure of this 4K disk is as otherworldly as the film itself.

The extras in both the 4K UltraHD and Collector’s Edition are the same offerings, which reveals the ‘Collector’s Edition’ to be lacking a bit, but if you want to ensure you have a digital copy of the film as well, then this is the package for you. Otherwise, the 4K disc is certainly great for any collector. If you are a physical media champion, while the limited edition steelbook offers nothing new in terms of bonus features, the artwork is a beautiful addition to any collection.

However the extras are fantastic for those who are fans of Whannell’s energetic and invigorating takes on the horror genre. The commentary from Whannell alone is a perfect reason for any physical media collector to justify the purchase to non-believers, offering excellent insight into this new take on the iconic Wolfman, and what Whannell wanted to do with this update. The other extras offer much of the same, as to be expected, but the ‘Designing a Wolf Man’ was of particular interest, as this take on the creature was very different than its predecessors. Fans of the property who wondered why the filmmakers made the choices they did can look no further, as there is excellent behind-the-scenes footage of concept art and make-up and prosthetic tests.
