Joe Pesci Is Joining Martin Scorsese's, The Irishman!
WOW! What a week it’s been for movie fans. In a shocking turn of events, Anita Busch from Deadline has reported that it appears Joe Pesci has decided to come out of retirement and star in Martin Scorsese’s new film, The Irishman! The last time we saw Scorsese and Pesci collaborate was 22 years ago in the 1995 hit film, Casino.
As of now, this film has Oscars written all over it because aside from Pesci signing on, other huge names involved in this project are Robert De Niro, Bobby Cannavale, Harvey Keitel and Al Pacino. Interestingly enough, this will be the first time Al Pacino has ever worked with Martin Scorsese.
The Irishman will tell the story about a member of the mob who may have had a connection in the murder of Jimmy Hoffa. Pacino is slated to play Hoffa, De Niro will be portraying “The Irishman,” and Pesci will be playing a character named Russell Bufalino.
Netflix is financing the film and plans to release the movie in a limited theatrical release sometime next year. The film is supposedly shooting next month and Scorsese plans on using the controversial technology that basically allows the actors to play a younger version of their selves. This technology has been used in the past and is getting better by the day. Plus, it’s doubtful that Scorsese would use anything he was not confident with because some of his films in the past that involved heavy CGI (Hugo, The Wolf of Wall Street) went to on to be nominated for numerous Oscars and are widely beloved.
