It’s safe to say that Henry Cavill is an extremely hot commodity in Hollywood. Collaborating with Netflix on projects like “The Witcher” and “Enola Holmes”, his name being passed around as a potential James Bond, and most recently, reprising his role as Superman in “Zack Snyder’s Justice League”. Fans of the actor have been graced with plenty of appearances from him on the screen, and there will be plenty more to come.

While Cavill has arguably yet to achieve a consistent leading man status, there is one role in particular that shows he can more than carry a film. Cavill got to flex his charisma muscle when he stepped into the shoes - and suit - of Napoleon Solo in Guy Ritchie’s “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.” released in 2015. An underseen, overshadowed spy thriller taking place at the peak of the Cold War, as well as Ritchie’s take on an upbeat Bond film, “U.N.C.L.E.” featured Cavill’s usual fist-throwing abilities, but also a charismatic and entertaining lead performance.

Recently, we’ve received an updated scoop from insider Daniel Richtman, deliverer of many exclusives on his Patreon, claiming that development on an “U.N.C.L.E.” sequel is moving forward, with Cavill in talks to reprise his role. While this would be amazing news for everyone who was a fan of the first film, it should probably be taken with a grain of salt. Richtman has been accurate with some of these kinds of rumors in the past, but his overall track record isn’t perfect. Richtman has sparked other rumors such as Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and even recently claimed that Cavill has been “asking WarnerMedia to develop a Superman show for HBO Max.” Richtman also mentioned Armie Hammer’s return in the “U.N.C.L.E.” sequel which, in the midst of the multiple allegations and scandals surrounding Hammer, is highly unlikely.

While the first film has become something of a cult favorite with a lot of fans, it also barely recouped its production budget, and has been estimated to have lost Warner Bros. as much as $80 million. Still, nothing is impossible, and another upbeat spy thriller with another great lead performance from Henry Cavill could be just what the movies need right now.
