'The Mandalorian' Season 3 Lands March 1st on Disney+
Fans Won’t have to wait much longer to reunite with their FAVORITE lone wolf and cub DUO
During Lucasfilm’s panel at the recent CCXP Convention, those in attendance were treated to some footage of the forthcoming adventures of The Mandalorian, with social media accounts for the show announcing to the public that the third season will make its premiere on March 1st.
Season 3 of The Mandalorian will follow Din Djarin reconnected with his fan favourite adoptee, Grogu, on his path to redeem himself and to discover what kind of Mandalorian he really is, following his banishment from his clan during the events of The Book of Boba Fett. As with any Star Wars project, exact details on the new season are sparse, but based off the trailer released earlier on in the year, audiences can expect The Mandalorian to finally reach Mandalore, and to see many sides of the ongoing struggle for power amongst the Mandalorian people. Series showrunner Jon Favreau promised fans at the panel that the newest season is bigger in scope and scale than the other seasons, teasing many more Mandalorians, space battles, and surprises ahead. The many factions of Mandalorians have been at play throughout the series so far, and the footage from Season Three shows that tensions look as high as ever, with several shots of uniquely-Beskar clad Mandalorians soaring through the air with jetpacks.
While fans were happy to see Djarin and Grogu again earlier this year in The Book of Boba Fett, it has been quite some time since the second Mandalorian season finished airing in December of 2020, with the upcoming third season premiering more than two years after the last. However, popularity and relevance of the series and its characters has not waned, with the newest teaser trailer having amassed north of 5 million views from official Star Wars and Lucasfilm channels.
A large part of the revolving door that is The Mandalorian’s cast is expected to return for the upcoming season. Pedro Pascal will once again reprise his role as the titular gunslinger on his pursuit for redemption, again crossing paths with Katee Sackhoff’s Bo-Katan Kryze, the Mandalorian warrior who made her live-action debut in the show’s second season. Kryze is expected to be featured in a much larger role in Season Three, with the producers and Sackhoff herself promising as much. Many members of the large ensemble amassed across the show’s seasons will also return, with Carl Weathers, Emily Swallow, Omid Abtahi, Katy O’Brian, Amy Sedaris and the infamous Giancarlo Esposito all slated to return. Many fans have speculated that with the third season having such a large focus on Mandalorian cultures and conflicts, that other notable Mandalorians from the Star Wars galaxy could appear, such as Temeura Morrison’s Boba Fett, as well as the likes of Sabine Wren and Fenn Rau, allies of Kryze from showrunner Filoni’s previous animated series. Wren will be played by Australian actress Natasha Liu Bordizzo in the upcoming Mandalorian spin-off, Ahsoka, with many fans theorizing that Bordizzo could make her debut in The Mandalorian.
