“Hello Sidney. Did you miss me?”
When a new Ghostface killer emerges in the quiet town where Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) has built a new life, her darkest fears are realized as her daughter (Isabel May) becomes the next target. Determined to protect her family, Sidney must face the horrors of her past to put an end to the bloodshed once and for all. ‘Scream 7’ promises to ‘burn it all to the ground’ in what appears to be yet another visceral and harrowing entry into the franchise.
The film stars not only Neve Campbell and Isabel May, but returning actors Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, and Scream icon Courteney Cox. Anna Camp, Joel McHale, Mckenna Grace, Michelle Randolph, Jimmy Tatro, Asa Germann, Celeste O’Connor, Sam Rechner, Ethan Embry, Tim Simons and Mark Consuelos round out the cast.
While not announced officially, Matthew Lillard’s name has been thrown around this particular film quite a bit. Lillard of course was part of the self-proclaimed ‘first husbands of horror’ as Stu Macher, one half of the original killers in 1996’s Scream. Lillard alongside Skeet Ulrich as Billy Loomis got this mainstay franchise going, and has been a fan favorite for almost 30 years at this point. With the story going back to the well of Loomis already when it received it’s reboot or ‘requel’ as they called it, fans hypothesize that Macher is making a glorious return.
The trailer doesn’t exactly shy away from that theory either, as not only does Ghostface reveal that the new town Sydney lives in reminds him “of where we grew up” strongly hinting that the new Ghostface has a strong tie to the original films, but a voice can be heard at the end of the trailer saying “this is going to be fun” who sounds an awful lot like Lillard.
Fans will have to wait until the film is released in February 2026 to get all the answers.
