There's No Hiding From the Trailer of 'Ready or Not 2'

Fans of the original indie-horror-darling ‘Ready Or Not’ can let out a blood-curdling, Weaving-esque scream of excitement as the group of exciting filmmakers known as Radio Silence have returned, and are ready for the crimson-soaked honeymoon.

Today, ‘Ready or Not 2: Here I Come’ released both a blood-splattered, first-look poster and the trailer for the film, and it promises to be a bigger, bloodier and by the looks of it, funnier sequel to the original. One might wonder how Grace (Samara Weaving) is somehow dragged back into the hellish game of hide-and-seek with the conclusion of the first film being a hilarious but definitive resolution to the team of blood-thirsty in-laws hunting her, but in what promises to be a story that ups the stakes even more, the trailer reveals how the story continues.

Moments after surviving an all-out attack from the Le Domas family, Grace discovers she’s reached the next level of the nightmarish game — and this time with her estranged sister Faith (Kathryn Newton) at her side. Grace has one chance to survive, keep her sister alive, and claim the High Seat of the Council that controls the world. Four rival families are hunting her for the throne, and whoever wins rules it all.

The film, like the original is once again directed by Radio Silence’s dynamic duo of Matt Bettinello-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, and they aren’t the only Radio Silence alum returning. Weaving is now a familiar choice for the group, having starred in the original Ready or Not and featured as the opening victim in ‘Scream VI’. Radio Silence has proven time and time again they like to dive back into the well of talent they’ve worked with before, and that meant bringing back stars such as Newton and Kevin Durand (featured in the trailer), who both starred in the severely underrated vampire-romp ‘Abigail’. Frequent collaborators Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murray who have been writers on many Radio Silence projects return, which guarantees an irreverent and twisted story, and producer James Vanderbilt, fresh off his directorial effort in ‘Nuremberg’ once again is producing for the filmmaking fraternity.

Yet fans are likely clamoring for the new faces (or familiar faces who happen to be new to Radio Silence) who will be blessing Ready or Not screens soon enough. As if scream-queens Weaving and Newton were not enough, the queen of blonde-horror-powerhouses, Sarah Michelle Gellar is thrust in an antagonistic role that sees her not only hunting the sisterhood of Weaving and Newton, but giggling as she does. The cast is round out by some other tremendous performers including recent Emmy-winner Shawn Hatosy, who, like Gellar, is no stranger to 90s era horror. Hatosy played a major part in Robert Rodriguez’s ‘The Faculty’ and while his work in The Pitt’ has been stellar, it’s so great to see him return to the horror genre. Other stars that need no introduction include Nestor Carbonell (Lost), Elijah Wood (Lord of the Rings) and Canada’s own king of twisted horror, David Cronenberg. Cronenberg has recently taken to acting more in Toronto area productions with a reoccurring key role in ‘Star Trek: Discovery’. It will be interesting to see what role he plays in Ready or Not.

Ready or Not 2: Here I Come’ will be released only in theatres in 2026.
