'Terrifier 2' Set to Re-Release in Theaters with a Tease for 'Terrifier 3"

The horror genre survives on constantly redefining itself as years pass by in the cinematic landscape. It almost seems that a certain film releases once a decade that changes the pace a bit, mixing things up (for better or worse) and influencing troves of intrigues audiences and countless films to come. Primary examples include Halloween in the late 70s, The Shining in the 80s, and, more recently, Hereditary in the 2010’s.

In October 2016, Damien Leone teased a potential for such when he put out ‘Terrifier’, a compact, downright gnarly horror movie that pushed the genre’s general boundaries to a near-breaking point. With the release of its sequel, the unassumingly titled ‘Terrifier 2’ in 2022, not only did Leone break those boundaries, he obliterated them. The film, beyond being met with widespread critical success that praised it for pushing the norm and utilizing incredible practical effects, became instantly infamous for its extreme violence and gore.

There were walkouts, faints, mandatory vomit baggies, and even questions of moral obligation that surrounded the opening. Of course, such a massive social sensation went on to be a soaring success. The film took home more than $15M globally against a $250k budget; that’s an increase of 60 times. Safe to say, it was an unprecedented success. Considering the groundbreaking content within, it may go down in retrospect as one of those films that altered the landscape of the genre. Last year’s release was one-of-a-kind in every respect, and with some new news, we may be looking at a repeat next month.

On November 1st, for a limited time, Terrifier 2 slashes back into theaters to inevitably capitalize on its ever-relevant popularity. With the spooky season in full swing, the timing couldn’t be much better. In addition to experiencing it all again, fans will get a special introduction from director Damien Leone before every screening, as well as an exclusive poster and full teaser for Terrifier 3, the third Terrifier film. Leone even chimed in on X/Twitter to ensure fans’ excitement, stating:

“For those of you speculating that the Terrifier 3 teaser is just gonna be some 20 second gimmick, I assure you it’s a legit teaser/trailer, it’s over 2 minutes long, and you’re gonna f****** love it”. Take it from the director, you don’t wanna miss it.

Terrifier fans will surely fill the seats come next month, as will all those who heard of the horrors last October, but never saw them. The film will inevitably build on its already killer success and garner all-time levels of hype for the final film in Leone’s terrifying trilogy. Terrifier 3 will be the third film bearing the Terrifier name, but the fourth to feature the franchise’s titular villain, Art the Clown. He first showed up ten years ago in 2013’s ‘All Hallows Eve’. His inclusion was a brief highlight, and paved the way to his position now as a horror villain hallmark.

Tickets are on sale now for the re-release. If you haven’t already reserved your spot, it may help to know that the first 100 fans on opening night will get a take-home Terrifier 3 poster, so be sure to grab tickets soon and get there early.
