‘Alien’ Series Coming to FX From Ridley Scott and Noah Hawley
Disney and 20th Century Studios announced a TV series set in the universe of the hit sci-fi horror franchise “Alien” will be coming to FX on Hulu during their Disney Investor Day 2020 virtual event.
According to the official announcement, the series is set to have the original “Alien” creator and director, film legend Ridley Scott, on as an executive producer with Noah Hawley onboard in a major capacity, most likely as a potential showrunner, series director, or head writer.
The announcement came with limited details on the specifics of the plot for the series, but it was confirmed the show will take place on Earth and return to the feel and vibe of the original “Alien” (1979) and “Aliens” (1986) films.
Hawley, a veteran television creator, is best known for being the series creator, writer, executive producer and director for the Marvel television series “Legion” loosely based on the X-Men comics, and “Fargo” based on the cult-classic Coen Brothers film. He is not only an accomplished screenwriter, but is the author of five published novels, in the science-fiction and mystery genre.
Hawley has a deep working relationship with 20th Century and FX, as both of his television series aired on FX. Hawley was the original writer/director tapped for 20th Century Fox’s planned “Doctor Doom” solo film, before the project was cancelled during the Disney acquisition and merger.
The “Alien” series is expected to begin production next year and feature on Hulu in 2022.
