Season 2 Trailer of "The Mandalorian" Promises More Action and More Baby Yoda
2020 has brought us much delays and disappointments thanks to COVID-19 but one series that is for sure coming out this year is the much anticipated second season of The Mandalorian.
Disney+ has unleashed the first look at the Star Wars series next season and promises much more adventure, more action and yes a lot more Baby Yoda.
Pedro Pascal returns as the masked title character that is given the task of bringing The Child back to his home planet. What follows from what we can see in the trailer is a road trip that takes the two to many different planets encountering many intriguing characters along the way.
Season 1 of The Mandalorian has been an unqualified success for Disney+ and has been a key figure in getting nearly 60 million subscribers worldwide to sign up for the service. The series even received a surprise Emmy nomination for Outstanding Drama Series among many other technical nods. This next season looks to build on that success.
Alongside Pascal, Gina Carano, Carl Weathers and Giancarlo Esposito will be returning to reprise their roles while Timothy Olyphant and Rosario Dawson are new additions to the Star Wars saga. Behind the scenes, Jon Favreau will return as writer and showrunner and direct an episode alongside Bryce Dallas Howard, Peyton Reed and Robert Rodriguez among others. As if that weren’t enough, a third season of The Mandalorian is already in the early stages with Favreau starting on the story.
Speaking as someone who still has to get on watching the first season, I am impressed with the tone the show seems to be taking moving away from the grand story building of the cinematic adventures but still maintaining the epic wonderment that made Star Wars such a beloved institution. The emphasis on practical effects over CGI is also a very welcome bonus.
