'Peacemaker' Spinoff From 'The Suicide Squad' Coming To HBO Max
James Gunn, director of the upcoming ‘The Suicide Squad’ announced he will be creating a spinoff show called ‘Peacemaker’ for HBO Max.
Gunn took to Instagram Wednesday to officially announce the series will see John Cena returning to reprise his role in the upcoming ‘Suicide Squad’ sequel-of-sorts. Gunn also answered some questions in the comments section such as: Does this mean Peacemaker survives the film?
Gunn answered: “We haven’t shared the time period of the show.”
Another user asked if it will be live-action or animated and Gunn confirmed it will be live-action.
Finally, he added that this will not affect his schedule regarding the production of Guardians Of The Galaxy: Volume 3, saying;
It looks like Warner Bros is copying the Disney+ model for the superhero franchises. While none of the announced Marvel shows have dropped on the streaming service, Disney just released a trailer for ‘WandaVision,’ a spinoff focused on two of the Avengers. The difference between the two streaming service: HBO and Warner Bros have the potential to make both their films and tv series more adult-oriented and R-Rated.
All’s fair in love and war and the streaming wars are fighting for our love. Warner Bros recent virtual convention FanDome seemed to go over well with fans and industry professionals alike. So despite recent layoffs, it seems DC is finally making some moves in the right direction, even if it requires some possibly convoluted storytelling through multiverses and alternate timeline continuity. However, this plus the Snyder Cut of Justice League are some big carrots to dangle in front of DC fans.
‘Peacemaker’ does not have a release date.
‘The Suicide Squad’ is currently scheduled for August 6, 2021.
