M. Night Shyamalan Reveals Title For Next Film "Old" and More Details

M. Night Shyamalan is sticking to simple one word titles for his next feature.

The unique but very divisive filmmaker has revealed on his Twitter account that he has finally begun shooting his latest thriller that will be titled Old. Alongside the tweet, Shyamalan posted artwork for the film that depicts an hourglass but instead of sand it is people falling.

As is typical of the director’s more recent films, general plot details remain very hush hush but there is a chance it has some connections to Shyamalan’s other projects like his trilogy that connected Unbreakable, Split and Glass within the same universe. Though we don’t have a specific plot, Collider stated that the film is inspired by a French graphic novel called Sandcastle which is centred on a dead body being discovered on a beach followed by unnatural events. This likely plays into the artwork’s depiction of an hourglass.

Shyamalan will once again write, direct and produce, and he has gotten a solid cast together including Gael Garcia Bernal, Eliza Scanlan, Thomasin McKenzie, Rufus Sewell and many others.

For the filmmaker, this marks yet another chance to give audiences an unforgettable experience that regardless of the final product will at least be memorable. Whatever your thoughts on Shyamalan’s recent films, he clearly is someone dedicated to his craft and enjoys making movies. As someone who hated Glass, I still have to admit that I will always be intrigued with whatever he cooks up next so sign me up for this.

Old has just started shooting and is aiming to hit theaters July 23, 2021
