Aldis Hodge In Talks for Hawkman Role in “Black Adam”

The Wrap reports that “Leverage” star Aldis Hodge is in talks with Warner Bros to play Hawkman in their upcoming “Black Adam” film.

Hodge is best known for his role starring as Alec Hardison in the TNT action crime drama “Leverage.”

In the film world, Hodge has featured in “Straight Outta Compton,” “Jack Reacher: Never Go Back,” and “Hidden Figures.” Recently, Hodge has starred in “The Invisible Man” from earlier this year, and Regina King’s directorial debut “One Night in Miami” that premiered this month at the Toronto International Film Festival, where he played Cleveland Browns fullback Jim Brown.

Black Adam” is set to star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as the titular antihero, and as fans saw during the DC FanDome event last August, will introduce the Justice Society of America (JSA), a 1940s superhero team predating the Justice League on Earth-2.

“Black Adam” will introduce to fans the first big-screen live-action portrayals of JSA members Cyclone, Atom Smasher, Doctor Fate, and Hawkman. The JSA will first be put at odds with Black Adam but eventually work alongside him to fight evil and injustice in the world as reluctant allies.

It was already announced earlier this year that Noah Centineo would play Albert Rothstein/Atom Smasher in “Black Adam,” leaving the castings of Cyclone and Doctor Fate still open.

Hawkman was last played in live-action on The CW’s “Legends of Tomorrow” played by Falk Hentschel.

It has not yet been confirmed if Hawkgirl, Hawkman’s love interest and partner through the ages, will feature in the film, however it has been speculated and hinted that Hawkman and Hawkgirl could both potentially appear in their own solo spinoff movie.

“Black Adam” is expected to begin filming in early 2021 with a release date of December 22, 2021.
