New 'Shang-Chi' Trailer Packed with Action and a Surprise Appearance

The new trailer showcases a bunch of kick ass fighting scenes and a surprising cameo from a character not seen in years.

Marvel Studios released the second trailer for "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" on Thursday. We get a closer look into the world building that director Destin Daniel Cretton has created, with more set pieces teased, as well as an assortment of different creatures including a tiger and a dragon. We also got a more in depth view of how the rings work. This is a much different look for the rings than what comic fans got in their original appearances.

The biggest news to come from the trailer, however, is a surprise cameo: Abomination. Previously the antagonist of “The Incredible Hulk”, the character has not been seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since that 2008 film, where he was played by Tim Roth. It has not been confirmed whether or not Roth is reprising his role.

As we make our way into the summer, Marvel has a stacked lineup of films to go through the rest of the year, and “Shang-Chi” is definitely going to be a highlight with a unique visual style for the franchise, as well as an apparent step up in choreography and editing for its fight scenes.

“Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and stars Simu Liu, Awkwafina, Michelle Yeoh, and Tony Leung, and is scheduled to release in theatres on September 3rd, 2021.
