Marvel Unleashes the First Look at 'Marvel Zombies'
So, you survived the zombie apocalypse. Super. Now who’s going to stop the Avengers from feasting on your brains?
Today, Disney+ unleashed a horde of assets for Marvel Animation’s ghoulish new series “Marvel Zombies,” including a trailer, key art and images. Run, lurch, but definitely don’t walk to Disney+ on September 24 to catch the four-episode series.
After the Avengers are overtaken by a zombie plague, a desperate group of survivors discover the key to bringing an end to the super-powered undead, racing across a dystopian landscape and risking life and limb to save their world.
Featuring the voices of Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Rudd, Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Tessa Thompson, Simu Liu, Awkwafina, Hailee Steinfeld, Wyatt Russell, Randall Park, Iman Vellani and Dominique Thorne, among others, “Marvel Zombies” is created by Bryan Andrews and Zeb Wells. The series is executive produced by Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Dana Vasquez-Eberhardt, Bryan Andrews and Zeb Wells, and is produced by Danielle Costa, Carrie Wassenaar.
The teaser offers a great look at some of Earth’s Mightiest undead, including attention given to Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch and an undead Steve Rogers Captain America. Yet, the supporting cast, or the surviving cast might be the most interesting aspect. While Harbour, Liu, Vellani and Pugh are all confirmed to return, it appears that their Red Guardian, Shang Chi, Ms Marvel and Yelena are the leaders of the resistance against the Zombie horde.
Yet someone is also voicing what is clearly supposed to be a multi-verse version of Mahershala Ali’s Blade, donned in the Moon Knight armour. The character, who it is assumed will take up the Moon Knight monicker, makes quick work of a sword wielding Zombie, and shows audiences what they will probably miss out on when it comes to an actual live action Blade film. Since that project is still in a developmental nightmare, fans will have to settle for the nightmarish atmosphere of Marvel Zombies when it drops all episodes later this month.
