The Boys are Back for One Last Punch Up
The trailer for the final season of Prime’s ‘The Boys’ is naturally an in-your-face onslaught which promises an epic showdown.
It’s Homelander’s world, completely subject to his erratic, egomaniacal whims. Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), and Frenchie (Tomer Capone) are imprisoned in a “Freedom Camp.” Annie (Erin Moriarty) struggles to mount a resistance against the overwhelming Supe force. Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) is nowhere to be found. But when Butcher (Karl Urban) reappears, ready and willing to use a virus that will wipe all Supes off the map, he sets in motion a chain of events that will forever change the world and everyone in it.
The official trailer for the fifth and final season of ‘The Boys’ previews a grim, high-stakes conclusion to the series, set to premiere on April 8, 2026. In the wake of the fourth season's cliffhanger, Homelander has successfully occupied the Oval Office and is now obsessed with achieving true immortality. To secure his legacy, he seeks out V-One, the potent original iteration of Compound V, and awakens his father, Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles), from cryogenic stasis to aid his absolute takeover of the world.
There were some notable highlights of the trailer, including Butcher’s "Venom" Transformation. Billy Butcher has fully embraced his dark side, with his cancerous tumor manifesting as lethal tentacles.
Fans of a different darker fantasy show, ‘Supernatural’ will be excited about the unofficial reunion. Beyond Jensen Ackles, the trailer confirms the appearance of his Supernatural co-star Jared Padalecki in a mystery role, alongside Daveed Diggs as the religious Supe leader Oh-Father.
Arguably some of the funniest moments of the entire show have come from The Deep (Chase Crawford) and this season promises to be no different. In it, we see The Deep's "Manhandled" Podcast. In a satirical turn, The Deep and Black Noir have launched a "manosphere" style podcast called ‘Manhandled’, serving as a comedic contrast to the season's bleak political landscape.
The resistance is primarily led by Annie (Starlight), who is seen recruiting allies from the Gen V universe, including Marie Moreau and Jordan Li, to combat the overwhelming Supe force. Meanwhile, Billy Butcher as a volatile lone wolf, wants to enforce his extreme plan of killing all Supes with a virus that threatens even his allies like Kimiko and Annie. On that note, and for the first time in the series, the trailer features a line of dialogue from Kimiko, signaling a major development for her character as she finds her voice in the final chapter.
As the Boys eventually reunite with Butcher, they must navigate a fragile truce to stop Homelander’s ascension before the series culminates in its final episode on May 20, 2026.
