Composer Henry Jackman to Score the Russo Brothers' Next Project After 'Cherry'
FilmSpeak got to sit down with composer Henry Jackman to discuss a myriad of subjects surrounding his career as well as his work on upcoming releases including Marvel Studios’ “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” on Disney+, as well as “Cherry”, the latest film from the Russo brothers’ production company AGBO in collaboration with Hideaway Entertainment, which was also directed by the brother-director duo. Jackman is a longtime collaborator of the Russo brothers, and at the conclusion of our chat (which will be released very soon), he gave us the scoop that he will be returning to score the director duo’s next project as well.
“I can’t really say anything,” said Jackman when asked about what he has in his pipeline, “[but] keep an eye on Joe and Anthony’s next endeavour,” implying that there is another film or TV project from the Russo brothers that is at least far enough into its production that they have brought Jackman on board to compose its music.
As to what this project could be, Jackman did indeed not say a single word more. However, there are a few possible answers based on other information that has leaked during the past six months or so. AGBO is producing “Citadel”, an upcoming miniseries for Amazon Studios starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who just on Friday made a post on her Instagram that strongly hinted that she had begun principal photography. Deadline also reported in December that Universal Pictures’ adaptation of the graphic novel “The Electric State” had the brothers on board to direct. Finally, there is Netflix’s “The Gray Man”, which Deadline had also reported on last summer as being another project with the Russo brothers attached as directors. The latter is especially interesting as Anthony Russo compared it to “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”, which is another project that features one of Jackman’s most distinctive scores.
In any case, we will have to wait and see whether the project Jackman was referring to is one of the aforementioned ones, or something new entirely for the Russo brothers.
