Disney's 'Ironheart' Gets Steely New Trailer
‘Ironheart’, a long awaited and often rumored Disney + original series, has finally been slated for release with a new trailer following the character’s appearance in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Starring Dominique Thorne in the lead, accompanied by Anthony Ramos as “The Hood”, the show’s absence up to this point represented a gap in the MCU timeline - questions formed in the aforementioned Black Panther movie look as if they’re finally about to be answered, thanks to fans, according to the latest action packed trailer for the series.
For starters, narratively, the show looks to pick up shortly after we left off with Riri Williams (Thorne) as she returns to Chicago following the aforementioned film’s event. In the trailer, we see multiple suits of armor, all assumedly invented by the lead character herself. Despite her lone MCU appearance, Williams’ ingenuity outlines the character with a unique stroke that harkens back to the character that started it all: Iron Man.
As the trailer progresses, we’re introduced to Ramos’ Hood, who challenged Ironheart’s mechanics with magic. It’s mystical vs. machine; not only is this a fresh angle for a Marvel show, but it raises interesting questions about the universe’s many clashing philosophies and past bouts with similar conflicts — see Age of Ultron.
In addition to the intriguing character work, the trailer boasts multiple flashy action sequences. Characters fly, fight, and crash in some of the more compelling special effects Disney + has seen in a long while. In an age of unfinished CGI and questionable digital overlays, Ironheart looks like a breath of fresh air (30,000 feet off the ground, at that).
Alden Ehrenreich, formerly known for his starring role in Solo: A Star Wars Story, also makes a brief appearance in the trailer as a character whose exact origin remains unknown to Marvel fans, at least so far. He, in addition to the rest of the expansive cast, build out a compelling world for Williams to live in, and operate through.
Fans also get a sneak peek of Riri’s comic-created A.I. program, “N.A.T.A.L.I.E", among a throng of similar details that should leave hardcore fans giddy. After a long wait, Disney + will finally add this expected MCU thrill ride on June 24 of this year. Look out for the marketing to ramp up and more hints to drop as the newly-revealed release date speeds closer.
A years-long wait has been dissolved down into one just over a month. Diehard Marvel fans can finally breathe knowing Ironheart is officially on the way.
