Pixar's 'Elio' Releases Final Trailer

The Long awaited pixar film comes a final step closer

After much anticipation, Pixar’s Elio is right around the corner, having now debuted its final trailer. First announced at Disney’s D23 Expo in 2022, Elio has had a long road to release, including the addition of Pixar veteran Domee Shi (Turning Red) as the film’s director, stepping in for the film’s originator, fellow Pixar veteran Adrian Molina (Coco) who departed the project to work on the upcoming Coco 2.

The film follows an eleven-year-old boy named Elio, who is mistaken for Earth’s intergalactic ambassador, and then finds himself navigating the expansive world of outer space and new cultures. The colourful, imaginative new worlds of Elio are front-and-centre in the film’s latest trailer, as well as the signature Pixar charm and heart. Elio also joins the likes of Soul, Elemental, and director Domee Shi’s own Turning Red as original films from Pixar in recent years, with both of those films being renowned for their uniqueness. Elio seems poised to occupy similar territory, as one of Disney’s two ‘original’ tentpole releases this year, not being based on an existing franchise or story in some way.

Recent Oscar winner Zoe Saldaña can be heard as a prominent role in the film, as Elio’s aunt Olga. With joining Elio, Saldana adds another Disney franchise to her resume, having starred in the Avatar and Marvel franchises for Disney during her career.

Elio is Pixar’s first feature film since their smash hit Inside Out 2 last year, which broke records for both the studio and the genre, cementing it as the second highest-grossing animated film of all time, and the highest for Pixar, besting their own Incredibles II.

‘Elio’ releases exclusively in theatres everywhere on June 20th.
