Adria Adjona signs on for Rogue One Spinoff on Disney+

The force is strong with Adria Arjona.

Sources have reported that the 28 year old rising star has been cast opposite Diego Luna in an undisclosed role for the “Rogue One” spinoff series that is being scheduled for the Disney+ streaming service.

Although details are unknown about what character Arjona will play, this is another major get for her having made her breakthrough in 2018’s “Pacific Rim Uprising”. She followed it up with other major roles in particular two of Netflix’s most popular original films “Triple Frontier” and “Six Underground”. Arjona will next be seen on the big screen opposite Jared Leto in Sony’s Spider Universe film “Morbius”

According to reports, the spinoff series will be centred on Cassian Andor, the character Luna played in the 2016 one off movie of the Star Wars Universe and his days as a rebel agent during the beginning days of the Rebellion against the Empire. “Rogue One” co writer Tony Gilroy is attached to write the pilot as well as direct several episodes.

Alongside Arjona and Luna, the series will also feature Stellan Skarsgard, Kyle Soller and Alan Tudyk reprising his big screen role as Andor’s droid sidekick, K-2SO.

The show, which was announced last year at Disney’s Investors Day to introduce Disney+, is one of several Star Wars spinoff series that are being made as exclusives for the nine month old service. “The Mandalorian” has been a massive success having just earned an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Drama Series and is scheduled to premiere its second season this fall. An Obi Wan Kenobi spinoff with Ewan McGregor reprising his role is also in early development.

No filming or release date is scheduled for the “Rogue One” spinoff series but if it can get shooting daily soon, it may be ready to hit Disney+ in fall 2021
