The first panel for the DC FanDome event, a celebration of all things DC Comics related, kicked off the day with an epic trailer for “Wonder Woman 1984” and audiences got their first glimpses of the film’s villain in all her anthropomorphic glory. Fans of ‘Cats’ are sure to purr over this furry foe! Watch the trailer below:

Director Patty Jenkins spoke with Gal Gadot and Chris Pine followed by the film’s antagonists, Pedro Pascal and Kristen Wiig about behind the scenes stories, costuming and answered some video questions from fans.

Jenkins was visibly excited about the project and seemed to be confident about the film opening in theaters, saying, “we believe in putting it in the cinema.” Like the other tentpole Warner Bros property, ‘Tenet,’ there is a necessity for these expensive films to make their money back that is only possible with massive box office numbers.

The panel was overall a very endearing watch and the cast had incredible chemistry. Wiig mentioned a time on set when she and Gadot were in a fight scene when Wiig’s hair got caught in Gadot’s wrist gauntlets, saying, “maybe we were tired,” but they spent the next few minutes laughing and detangling.

Pedro Pascal talked about the costuming and how he was worried the ugliness of the 80s era suits he would have to wear for his role as Maxwell Lord would translate horribly but after seeing costumer, Lindy Hemming’s designs and image boards, he was thoroughly impressed and ended up “feeling like a million bucks.”

Along with the cast and fans, Linda Carter and Venus Williams made surprise appearances at the panel. Williams’ prerecorded question was, “who would win in a tennis match: Wonder Woman or Cheetah?" Needless to say, both actors said themselves. Carter took her time to tell Gadot and Jenkins that Carter’s own daughter said after seeing Gadot’s portrayal of the superhero, “I get why everyone idolizes you.” A touchingly sweet moment that combined with fan art and cosplay from men, women, and children, showed just how special this character has become since her inception in 1941.

After almost 80 years, Wonder Woman is still inspiring people around the world today.

According to the official Twitter account and latest poster, “Wonder Woman 1984” has a theatrical release date of Oct 2.
