Deadline reports that Lionsgate CEO John Feltheimer has confirmed "John Wick 5" on Thursday's Lionsgate earnings call. Feltheimer went on to relay that the fifth movie in the "John Wick" franchise will film alongside the fourth installment.

Currently, the next two films in the "John Wick" universe are set to begin filming in early 2021, so Keanu Reeves can finish filming "The Matrix 4."

"John Wick 4" was initially slated to release on May 16, 2021, but due to filming delays from the pandemic, it is now scheduled to release on May 27, 2022, in time for Memorial Day weekend. "John Wick 5" is set to release in a similar time slot the next year, in late May 2023.

Chad Stahelski will return as director for "John Wick 4" after co-directing the first film with David Leitch and solo directing the following two in the trilogy. It is currently unconfirmed if Stahelski will be returning to direct "John Wick 5." However, with this news of the two movies filming back-to-back, this scenario seems very likely.

Along with this fifth film in the "John Wick" franchise, fans of the series will also have the opportunity to further explore the universe with "The Continental" TV series premiering on Starz in Fall 2022. The series will focus on The Continental Hotel, infamous for housing the hitmen in the "John Wick" universe and follow a handful of these assassins in their professional lives and missions. Reeves, Leitch, and Stahelski will produce the series, with Stahelski directing the pilot episode. Speculation still abounds about whether Keanu will appear as the titular John Wick.

Similarly, Lionsgate has yet another John Wick-based movie on their slate with the spin-off titled "The Ballerina" announced in July 2017 to follow the Ballerina troop introduced in "John Wick: Chapter 3—Parabellum" with Chloe Grace Moretz rumored to star.
