Samuel L. Jackson Returning To Star as Nick Fury in His Own Disney+ Series

Variety reports that Samuel L. Jackson will reprise his role as Nick Fury in his very own Disney+ series.

While no plot details are known at this time, multiple sources have confirmed that Jackson will star, and Kyle Bradstreet will write the series and be attached as an executive producer. Bradstreet will also act as the series creator and head showrunner to helm the project.

Bradstreet previously worked as a writer and producer on “Mr. Robot” with Rami Malek, and as an executive story editor, writer and producer on the BBC series “Copper.” He has also worked on the shows “Borgia” and “Berlin Station.”

Following his infamous cameo appearance in the post-credits scene of “Iron Man” in 2008, Jackson has played the role of Nick Fury in 12 titles, including two cameo appearances in  “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” on ABC.

Last that we saw of Fury was in “Spider-Man: Far From Home” last year, where it was revealed the Skrull Talos from 2019’s “Captain Marvel” had been taking his place as Fury attended to more important matters on a ship somewhere deep in space.

It is currently unknown if this series will be a prequel following Fury in the pre-Avengers days with Jackson once again being de-aged like he was in “Captain Marvel” or if this will follow Fury in the present moving forward as he goes on cosmic space adventures with the Skrulls and Talos. This could potentially follow Fury as the director of the newly-formed S.W.O.R.D. which is confirmed to make appearances in upcoming Marvel Studios projects such as “WandaVision” also on Disney+.

Co-stars have not been announced yet, however it would not be far off to speculate that perhaps Cobie Smulders could reprise her role as Agent Maria Hill or Ben Mendelsohn as Talos.

No release dates have been announced for the “Nick Fury” Disney+ series, however it is likely we will see this streaming in 2022 or 2023.
