'The Boys' Spinoff Greenlit By Amazon
Following the smash success of season two, Amazon has announced a spinoff series set in ‘The Boys’ universe. The new series will be set at a college run by Vought International where students with super powers compete for big city contracts. It will remain R-rated and raunchy like its gory and sexual predecessor. Craig Rosenberg has been announced as the show runner with Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg returning to Executive Produce. James Weaver, Neil H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty will also be executive producing. Amazon Studios and Sony Pitctures Television will produce the series.
The series that streams exclusively on Prime Video has two episodes left to air of the latest season and the general critical consensus seems positive. Check out Filmspeak’s recap’s and reviews of season two starting here.
According to Amazon, the second season saw their best numbers yet for any of their shows with audiences boosted by 89% since the season one premiere. Amazon had already announced the series had been renewed for season three ahead of the season two launch but this shows ever more confidence in the super satirical program.
An after show for The Boys is also currently being hosted by Aisha Tyler where the cast and crew deep dive on season one in the first episode then look back at each episode of season two after they premiere. The recap show can also be found on Amazon Prime.
‘The Boys’ season two follows Butcher (Karl Urban) and his crew hiding out from Vought and the authorities. Starlight (Erin Moriarty) is helping The Boys bring Vought down from the inside and Hughie (Jack Quaid) is kind of just along for the ride this season. Homelander (Antony Starr) and Stormfront (Aya Cash) have been standouts this season as the outwardly good but inwardly evil super duo that The Boys are trying to ultimately stop.
The final episode of ‘The Boys’ season two is set to air Friday, October 9.
No official release date or title has been announced for the spinoff series.
